Bernadette Allman - Obituary

G

rateful In the early evening of June 20th Bernadette passed away after a long struggle with cancer. She was 52 years old. She was at home, in Crofton, under hospice care, aided by her cherished friends, Amber and Christy, and the unending support of her many friends and family. Bernadette is the only daughter of Bernard and the late Marie Allman. She grew up in Kettering, Maryland with her five brothers. As a child, she was active in swimming, softball, and scouts. Bernadette attended Elizabeth Seton High School and later graduated from the University of Maryland in 1992. She earned a Masters degree in biological science at Towson University in 2004. At university she was active in Pi Beta Phi Sorority where she made lasting friendships. Berni led a full and active life. She traveled extensively, visiting most of the capital cities of Europe. She loved the beach, hiking, biking, and golf, but mostly being with the many friends she so easily attracted. Her life work was as a high school biology teacher. She remained dedicated and committed and was active in many extracurricular activities. Bernadette retired from Marriotts Ridge High School several years ago, but is still well remembered by her fellow teachers. Bernadette is survived by her brothers and their spouses: Patrick, Timothy, John and Amber, Matthew and Monika, Thomas and Elena, and her father, Bernard. She loved her nieces and nephews: Kellen and Kate, Fay and Sean, Maya and Kai, and Ella and Jake. We hope and pray that our beloved Bernadette has achieved the promise of the Resurrection. She will be missed. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 28 at 11 am at St Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 1800 Seton Dr, Crofton, MD. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to Hospice of the Chesapeake. Online condolences may be made using the Memories tab on this page.
