ernard J. “Bernie” Harvey, Sr., 66, a 12-year residence of Pasadena and previously of Millersville, MD, passed away on September 3, 2016. Born on June 8, 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Louise and James Harvey, Sr., Bernie served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He made his career as a truck driver for Rand’s Transport, MBM Corporation and Cowan Trucking.
Bernie was a member of the Knights of Columbus Madonna Council. He was an avid Steelers and Orioles fan and a tattoo enthusiast. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles. Most of all, Bernie loved his family and especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports.
In addition to his parents, Bernie was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Louise Donohue and a granddaughter, Sydney. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Kathleen Harvey; three children, Heather (Jeremy) Mohney of Glen Burnie, Shannon (Chad) O’Brien of Denton, MD and Bernard (Nicole) Harvey, Jr. of Chambersburg, PA; a brother, James Harvey, Jr.; two sisters, Ellen Barkman and Carol Anigati; and nine grandchildren, Brenden, Zachary, Joseph, Gavin, Joshua, Riley, Aiden, Trinity and Jackson.
Friends are invited to celebrate Bernie’s life with his family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 9 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
