Bernard Jesse Jones - Obituary

ernard Jones, "Buddy", a 20-year resident of Ocean City, MD, and previously of Edgewater, MD, died at his home on Monday, February 20, 2023. Buddy was born on January 12, 1947, in Washington, DC to the late Bernard and Dorothy Jones. He honorably served his country while in the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his discharge, Buddy worked for Sheet Metal Union Local 100. He was a longtime member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge, and VFW. Buddy enjoyed fishing, hanging out with family and friends, and selling tickets for Queen of Hearts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Lovejoy. Buddy is survived by three children, Nicholas Jones of Edgewater, MD, Valerie Ward of Edgewater, MD, and Dawn Hignut of Goldsboro, MD; his former spouse of 15 years, Janet Jones; two sisters, Debbie Jones of Ocean City, MD, and Donna Davis of Ocean Pines, MD; five granddaughters, Amber, Ashley, and Cheyenne Collet, Lauren Ryder, and Addison Jones; four grandsons, Jesse Runyon, Jeffrey Harris, Robert Ryder, and Ethan Jones; 17 great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; and 11 great-nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to celebrate Bernard's life on Friday, March 3 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at noon.
