ernard W. “Bernie” Parkinson, Jr., a lifelong resident of Annapolis, died July 31, 2022 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a long battle with cancer. He was born December 1, 1947 in Annapolis, attended Annapolis High School and received his GED through the Army, where he served in the 82nd Airborne Division. Bernie was a longtime firefighter with the West Annapolis Fire Department, Station 4, as well as the owner and operator of BW Trucking. He was a member of Annapolis Elks Lodge 622, the Annapolis Moose Lodge #296, and the Fleet Reserve Club. In his spare time, Bernie enjoyed antique and hot rod cars, baseball, snow skiing, golfing, and playing cards. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Parkinson; his stepdaughter, Angela (Ben) Houdeshell of Odenton; two daughters; four grandchildren; his step grandson, Owen; his sister, Deborah (Gary) Greenwald of Centreville; and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard W. Parkinson, Sr. and Marjorie Ann Whittington Parkinson; and a son, Bernard Charles Parkinson. Relatives and friends are invited to Bernie’s life celebration on Wednesday, August 3 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where a funeral service will be on Thursday, August 4 at 10 AM.
