Bertha Rose - Obituary

ertha Hiehle Rose, 96, devoted and loving mother and dear friend, passed away on December 16, 2010 at Spa Creek Genesis Center in Annapolis, Md. Bertha was born December 9, 1914 in Parkersburg, WV to the late Ella and Will Hiehle. In 1935 she married the late Bill Rose. Together they lived primarily in West Virginia, Maryland and Florida, but between 1961 and 1973, they were posted with AID in Bolivia, Iran, Thailand and Viet Nam. Bertha was a member of St. Mark's and Grace Lutheran churches. Her inquiring spirit and engaging personality brightened those who knew her, while her generosity and kindness uplifted many. She was an avid note writer, communicator and kept all extended family members and friends in touch with one another throughout her life. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her youngest daughter, Kristina Morneau. Survivors include one son, Jon W. Rose of Arlington, Va and a daughter Jayne Rose Ross of Annapolis, Md.; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ross Carbo of Bowie, Md., Eric Rose of Columbia, S. Carolina and Nick Rose of Seattle, Wa. A celebration of Bertha’s life and memorial service will be held at a later date.
