Bessie Gillespie - Obituary

essie “Betty” Isabell Gillespie, 82, a resident of Edgewater, MD died on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes. Born June 9, 1929 in Baltimore, MD, to the late William and Rosa Hopkins, she graduated from Forest Park High School. Betty was employed as a bookkeeper for Webster Clothes and Town & Country. She enjoyed crafts, bingo, taking bus trips and she loved spending time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald W. Gillespie in 1992. Betty is survived by two sons, Donald Gillespie and his wife, Carole of Fairfield, PA and Michael Gillespie and his wife, Michelle of Havre de Grace, MD; two daughters, Rosemary Donat of Westminster, MD and Betty Hanna and her husband, John of Edgewater, MD; and 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to Betty’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Friday, December 2 from 4 to 8pm, and on Saturday, December 3 from 9:30am until time of service at 10am. Interment Lorraine Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
