lizabeth Anne "Bettianne" Welch, 76, of Annapolis and previously of Vienna, VA and Long Island, NY, died on May 5, 2013.
Born September 6, 1936 in Bayside, NY, she graduated from Bayside High School, was a model and actress in the 1960’s and 1970’s, and was employed as a Director of Marketing at Bell Atlantic in Arlington, VA from 1980 - 1995. Bettianne represented New York City as the 1960 New York Summer Festival Queen, and was also the founder of FOCUS (Four Our Children's Unpaid Support), helping to change the laws for child support enforcement in the state of Virginia and nationwide. She was a member of the Parish Council at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Annapolis, Board Member of Isabel's Gift and Arundel Lodge, and a volunteer at the Eastport Library and in her neighborhood of Heritage Harbour. Bettianne enjoyed gardening, volunteering, museums, holidays, and parades, and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Elizabeth is survived by two sons, Daniel Edward Welch of Annapolis and James Nicholas Welch of Las Vegas, NV; a daughter, Christa Welch Grim of Davidsonville; a brother, Dr. Robert Fisch of Kenosha, WI; two sisters, Arline Fisch of San Diego, CA and Nancy Helsper of Coronado, CA; and four grandchildren, James Robert and Justine Welch of San Diego, CA and Tilghman Daniel and Isabel Elizabeth Grim of Davidsonville.
Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater on Friday, May 10 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 11 at 9am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis.
