Betty Jane Evans - Obituary

etty Jane Evans, 84 of Huntingtown, MD., passed away April 7th, 2017 after a brief illness. Betty was born on September 15, 1932 in Washington, D.C. to the late George and Dorothy Felter. BJ enjoyed gardening, crafts, ten pin bowling, computer puzzles, texting, taking selfies on her I-Phone 6 and rocking in her rocking chair on the front porch. In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by three sons, Leon and Donald Foster and Harry Evans and two sisters Marie (Lowell) Hartzog and Ethel (Tommy) Thompson. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Sam Evans, sons James Foster of Pompano Beach, Fl., and Danny Evans of Baltimore, MD., daughters Donna (Ross) Steinbach of Rogersville, TN., Nardella (Mike) Smith of Denton, Brenda Trott of Huntingtown, Glenie (Mark) Mathues of Dover, DE., Ramona (Harry) Johnson of Severn, Rosie Johnson of Salisbury and Vickie Evans of Salisbury, 31 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Friends are invited to celebrate BJs’ life on Wednesday, April 12th from 2 to 4 and 6-8 pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD., with funeral services being held at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home on Thursday, April 13th at 11:00 am. Interment procession will be at MeadowRidge Memorial Park, 7250 Washington BLVD., Elkridge, MD., 21075. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Military Order of the Purple Heart, 31 Hopkins Plaza, Baltimore, MD., 20201.
