Betty Lee Gilman - Obituary

etty Lee Gilman, 81, a 53-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Hyattsville, MD, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at Anne Arundel Medical Center following a 27-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Born March 31, 1937, in Cresaptown, MD, to the late Homer and Opal Gerhart, she graduated from Allegany High School. Betty worked as a supervisor at Anne Arundel Medical for twenty-two years. Her memberships included, Mayo United Methodist Church and the American Legion Cummings-Behlke Post 226 for 45 years. Betty enjoyed crafts, stamp collecting, photography, and keeping her grandchildren busy. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Thomas P. Gilman; two sons, Kevin Dean (Brenda) of Gainesville, GA and Kent Dale of Edgewater, MD; a daughter, Kala Dawn (Louie) of Queenstown, MD; a brother, Charles (Mary) of Edgewater, MD; five grandchildren, Carrie (Chester), Brandon, Savanna, Dylan and Matthew; and three great-grandchildren, Madalynn, Brantley and Jackson. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Betty's life at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Sunday, October 7 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. A memorial service will be held at Mayo United Methodist Church, 1005 Old Turkey Point Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037 on Monday, October 8 at 7 PM.
