Betty Johnson - Obituary

etty H. Johnson, of Rolla, formerly of Ft. Washington, MD, passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at the age of 83. She was born on July 26, 1931 in Dunbar, WV to the late Hugh Hamrick and Velma B. (Bailes) Hamrick. On November 23, 1955 she married James C. Johnson who preceded her in death in November of 2006. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Betty was deeply involved with the Whitehall Baptist Church in Accokeek, MD. Her greatest delight was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She constructed and donated many of her own handcrafted items. She will be greatly missed by her surviving family which includes: two sons, Mike Johnson of Williamsport, MD and Mark Johnson and wife Ally of Rolla; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Johnson of Stafford, VA; five grandchildren, Kristen and husband Aaron Monroe of Richmond, VA, Katie Johnson of Woodbridge, VA, Cori Johnson of Stafford, VA, Jonathan Polo Johnson of Rolla and Christopher Johnson of Rolla; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Friends are invited to Betty's Life Celebration on Sunday, August 3 from 4 to 6pm at GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD and at Whitehall Baptist Church, 1205 Farmington Rd. East, Accokeek, MD on Monday, August 4 from 11:30am until service time at 12;30pm. Interment Trinity Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions are suggested to Pure Water, Pure Love through the Women’s Missionary Union through the Southern Baptist Convention.
