Betty Mae Zell - Obituary

etty Mae Zell, 91, a resident of Selbyville, DE for 32 years and previously of Cottage City, MD, died on Monday, March 12 in Harwood, MD after a lengthy illness. Born on March 27, 1926, in Cottage City, MD to the late Thomas D. And Nena A. Kleh, Betty was a 1944 graduate of Bladensburg High School. She worked at the Department of Agriculture and the Candy Kitchen but was a homemaker most of her life. Betty was a member of the Ladies of Keenwick, the Red Hats, and she attended St. Luke Catholic Church in Ocean City, MD. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Courtland Zell, Jr. On September 6, 1984, and her brother, Thomas Kleh. She is survived by her children, Francis C. Zell, III of Southport, NC, Jay M. Zell of Fort Laramie, WY, Bernard T. Zell of Grasonville, MD, Charles V. Zell of Laurel, MD, Bonnie A. Faber of Dagsboro, DE, and Mary E. Litchfield of Selbyville, DE; fourteen grandchildren, Bryan Zell of Bristow, VA, Kevin Zell of Southport, NC, Jay M. Zell, Jr. Of Scottsbluff, NE, Nicholas Faber of Bridgeville, DE, Steven Faber of Dagsboro, DE, Conor Zell of Mayo, MD, Mark Litchfield of Selbyville, DE, Thomas Litchfield of Selbyville, DE, Christine Beachy, Elizabeth Kennedy of Bowie, MD, Michelle Richards of Hyattsville, MD, Jennie Zell of Virginia Beach, VA, Leslie Zell of Odenton, MD, and Katie Zell of Edgewater, MD. Betty is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Friends are invited to celebrate Betty's life on Saturday, March 24 from 12 pm until her Memorial Mass begins at 1 pm at St. Luke Catholic Church, 9903 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, MD.
