eulah Mae "Susie" Cheri, 74, a resident of Shady Side, MD for 44 years, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD. Born on September 8, 1944 in Elkton, VA to the late Lester and Della Shifflet, Susie graduated from high school and worked as an electronic assembler, Recorded Books and Backyard Boats. She was a woman of faith who enjoyed her Sunday worships with Shepherds Chapel and reading her daily devotions. Susie was known for her famous carrot cake that was made from scratch; there was never a piece left. Her chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, and ginger cookies were the best. Susie enjoyed going out on Mother's Day to buy the flowers to be planted in her front yard and she loved going to New Jersey to see her best friend, Della "Runt" Zeigler and her sister. Susie's also enjoyed spending time with her family and grandkids, boating, watching her children and husband go crabbing and fishing, cooking, baking, going for long rides and having coffee. She was a Facebook expert and enjoyed video chatting with her loved ones that lived far away. Susie loved, loved, loved all of her grandbabies and was a best friend and confidant to many. She was the sweetest person in the world and was loved by so many. Susie was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Alfred Cheri; two children, Zane (Jessica)Cheri of York, PA and Shawn (Carey)Cheri of Shady Side, MD; five grandchildren, Collin, Kayla, Katelynn, Brooklyn, and Mia, 19 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to celebrate Susie's life on Saturday, April 13, from 11 am until her funeral service begins at 12 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
