ildreth Bradford Clagett, nee Morton, affectionately known as "Brad," passed away peacefully on June 16, 2024. In her last moments, she was surrounded by her son and daughter. Brad was born on November 22, 1942, and raised in Davidsonville, Maryland. She was an active member of the Davidsonville 4-H Club and often spoke of her life growing up on the farm. She graduated from Annapolis High School and attended Marjorie Webster College in Washington, DC. Brad was formerly married to Robert "Bobby" Yates Clagett of Upper Marlboro, MD. They raised two children on their Southern Maryland Farm for 20 years. Brad embraced life on the farm and enjoyed canning, crabbing, cooking game, and hosting parties. She would later search to further her education and return to college to get her Master's degree from George Mason University. Brad started her Educational Consulting Business and began her life's journey of helping others. She obtained a second master's in behavioral counseling from Johns Hopkins University. She was hired by the Anne Arundel County Health Department, holding various positions with the Sexual Assault Crisis Center and Adolescent and Family Services. She ultimately became the Clinical Supervisor of the County Methadone Clinic. She taught Psychology at Anne Arundel Community College in her evenings and had a private counseling practice. Brad was a huge proponent of continuing your education and often cheered people on to go back to school. She volunteered at Anne Arundel Medical Center on the cancer floor, earning the nickname "Brad the Bad." One of the nurses stated she must be doing something bad as she had never seen patients laugh like they did when she was around. She loved to spread joy. Brad lived at Brightview Senior Living in Annapolis before her death. She enjoyed helping her fellow residents, making her friends laugh, and giving everyone hugs. Brad is preceded in death by her parents, The Hon. James C. Morton, Jr, and Hildreth Kempton Morton. She is survived by a sister, Ann Drenner of Davidsonville, MD; two children, Robert Yates Clagett, Jr. of Brandywine, MD, and Hildreth "Hilly" Kempton Hoyle (David) of Annapolis, MD; a daughter-in-law, Katherine Loughran Clagett; and five grandchildren she adored, Robert Yates Clagett III, Jackson Warring Clagett, Elizabeth Clagett, David Carter Hoyle, Jr., and Chase Robert Hoyle. The family will accept visitors at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. on Sunday, June 23, from noon until Brad's memorial service begins at 1 p.m. Please take a moment to leave a condolence for the family by visiting the Memories link on this page.
