AWSON, Burnardette "Betty" Goode 87, passed away peacefully at home on August 26, 2008. A 60 year resident of Edgewater, she had suffered a stroke in January 2000. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Clarence Edmund "Larry" Dawson in 2001. She was also preceded in death by three brothers and a sister. Mrs. Dawson was born December 27, 1920 in Marbury, Md. In 1945, while serving on the staff of an Admiral at Bethesda Naval Hospital, she met her future husband, a young Naval Officer returning from World War II. After her marriage in that year she enjoyed living in overseas duty stations including Cairo, Egypt and Saudi Arabia and traveling throughout the Mediterranean region.
In addition to being a homemaker her hobbies included Swimming, gardening, and playing the piano.
She is survived by a daughter, Diana Buzzard, and her husband, David, of West Virginia, a son Douglas Dawson and his wife, Patricia of Edgewater, grandsons, Brad Buzzard of Australia and Greg Buzzard of Washington, DC.
She was a founding member of Parkwood United Methodist Church and later attended Davidsonville United Methodist Church.
She was interred at Lakemont Cemetery in Davidsonville. A Memorial Service will be held at Parkwood United Methodist Church in Edgewater on September 26 at 10:30 A.M. with the Reverend Denise Millett officiating.
