rancis Edward France, “Buzzy”, 79, a longtime resident of Deale, MD, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, surrounded by his family at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness. Buzzy was born on February 11, 1943 in Baltimore, MD to the late Lawrence (Capt. Phipps) and Eleanor France. Buzzy began his career in law enforcement as a Maryland State Trooper, where he worked for 22 years, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was stationed at the Waterloo, Valley & Prince Frederick Barracks He served for 32 years in CMVED( Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division), where he oversaw the training unit. Buzzy was a member of the Deale Vol. Fire Department in the 1960’s and the Jessup Vol. Fire Dept in the 1970’s. His interests included slow pitch softball, crabbing and enjoyed “Aqua Sports” at Dockside Restaurant in Deale with his best friend Bob Beall. He was also one heck of an oyster shucker and made the best oyster stew. Buzzy is survived by his son, Robert C France and his wife Paula, of Deale, MD and daughter, Sharon Younger and her husband, Mike D. Younger, Sr. of Stevensville, MD, his two brothers, Lawrence France and his wife Mary, of Arnold, MD and John W. France and his wife Susan, of Englewood, Colorado. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael Younger, Jr., Dylan Younger, Taylor Younger, Logan France and Autumn France, Austin and Gracie Younger and Violet Mints. Buzzy will also be missed by many friends, coworkers and his Dockside family. Family and Friends are invited to celebrate Buzzy's life on Saturday, March 26, 2022, from 11 am until 2 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. An Email from the Maryland State Police After 32 years of dedicated service, Francis “Buzzy” France will resign from the Maryland State Police, Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division, effective October 19, 2021, after serving the department as a Corporal for 22 years. “Buzzy” France took a civilian position within the Commercial Motor Vehicle Division in 1989. During his tenure as a civilian administrative officer, “Buzzy” France oversaw the training unit within the Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division, serving in this capacity since 1992. “Buzzy” France is one of the few individuals in the nation that was certified as an instructor in all Federal Motor Carrier roadside courses and obtained his Master Instructor certification in 2003. “Buzzy” France was the only member within the Maryland State Police to serve on the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s executive board and hold the title of “President”. “Buzzy France would like to thank all the members of the Department of State Police and allied agencies that made his 54 years of service so fulfilling. “Buzzy” France would like to be compensated for all unused leave and is not seeking employment with another department, stating, “I think after 54 years, it’s time to relax!
