Reece, 85, a resident of Annapolis for 17 years and previously of Silver Spring, died of complications due to Alzheimer's disease Feb. 3 at Somerford Place in Annapolis. Dr. Reece was born March 9, 1922, in Monongahela, Pa. He attended George Washington University and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. He graduated from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1952. He served in the Army Air Corps as a first lieutenant during World War II, and was stationed in the Philippines and in Okinawa. Dr. Reece was a member of Annapolis Elks Lodge 622 and the Annapolis Moose Lodge. He loved ballroom dancing. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine Reece, who died in May of 1993; and two brothers. Survivors include two sons, Dr. Thomas Reece of San Anselmo, Calif., and Dr. Michael Reece of New Holland, Pa.; three stepsons, Gregory Carroll of White Stone, Va., Kevin Carroll of Stevensville and Steven Carroll of Odenton; two stepdaughters, Maureen Davis of Davidsonville and Donna Stratton of Annapolis; two grandsons; eight stepgrandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Road, Suite D, Timonium, MD 21093-3142.
