avid Ledda Miranda, beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2026, at the age of 90. David was born in Natividad, Pangasinan, Philippines. As a young boy, he loved the outdoors and once dreamed of becoming a forest ranger. Instead, like many young men of his generation, he chose a life of service and joined the United States Navy. During his military career, he traveled the world and proudly served his country for 24 years, including two tours in Vietnam. He retired honorably as a Chief Petty Officer. While stationed in Chicago in 1966, David met the love of his life, Honoria (Nora), a registered nurse who was also originally from the Philippines. Together they built a loving family and shared 55 years of marriage. After retiring from the Navy, David worked for several years at the Smithsonian Museum of American History, where he enjoyed interacting with visitors and staff. He later joined the U.S. Department of Education as an accountant, where he spent 27 successful years before retiring. His colleagues remembered him for his integrity, dedication, strong work ethic, and wisdom. David was a devoted family man who worked tirelessly to provide for those he loved. He was known for his perseverance, generosity, and quiet strength. He believed that hard work and determination could help a person overcome life’s challenges, and he lived that example every day. Outside of work, David enjoyed tending to his impressive garden, completing home improvement projects, cooking for family and friends, and reading the newspaper and Reader’s Digest. He loved watching Jeopardy! and boxing, and was known as a wonderful dancer, singer, storyteller, and advisor to those around him. David is survived by his children, Barton Miranda, Lisa Baker, and Judy Miranda; his grandchildren, Isabel Rose and Christine Baker; his brother, Cristobal; and his sister, Leila. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nora Miranda; his parents, Felix and Susana Miranda; his brothers, Leopoldo, Orlando, and Elias; and his sisters, Wilhemina and Rebecca. David will be remembered for his strong devotion to family, his steady guidance, and the lasting impact he had on those who knew him. Family and friends are invited to David's Life Celebration on Saturday, June 20, 2026 from 11 a.m. until the start of the service at 12 noon at KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD.
