arl “Skip” Anthony Reber, an 8–year resident of Chesapeake Harbour in Annapolis, and previously of Silver Spring, MD, died on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born February 24, 1933 in Reading, Pennsylvania to the late Carl and Marie Reber, he received his B.S. degree from Penn State University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He worked for NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD from 1960 to 2006.
Skip was the past Regional Executive of the Sports Car Club of America for the D.C. Region and was a member of the Porsche Club of America, and the American Geophysical Union.
Skip’s hobbies included racing and working on sports cars, kayaking, mountain biking and reading.
Skip is survived by his wife of 39 years, Carol Bauer Reber of Annapolis; two sons, Gregory (Bibi) Reber of Larkspur, California, and Stephen Reber of Gainesville, Florida; two daughters, Jan (Daniel) Hammell of Pasadena, MD and Jill (Robert) Hamer of Tiburon, California; two brothers, John (Nancy) Reber of Warrenton, Virginia and Dale (Mary Lou) Reber of Gordonville, Pennsylvania. Also survived by seven grandchildren, Alana, Allison, Beck, Dillon, Kyle, Lin and Mackenzie.
A Celebration of Skip’s Life will be held on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at 1pm at Quiet Waters Park, Blue Heron Room, 600 Quiet Waters Park Road, Annapolis, MD 21403.
