C

arol J. Kling, age 76, a resident of Beltsville for many years, died on Thursday, June 14 after a battle with cancer, at her son’s home in Annapolis. Born on November 21, 1935 in Washington, D.C. to the late Donbar and Gilda Kling, Carol was an administrative assistant and officer in the Office of the General Counsel at the U.S. State Department. She was a member of the League of St. Jude and of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Beltsville, where she led the daily rosary and volunteered in the food pantry. In her spare time, Carol enjoyed water aerobics and line dancing but, being an avid sports fan, her favorite activity was watching her grandson compete in his games. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Kling. She is survived by her son, Thomas P. Kling and his wife, Sheila of Annapolis; two sisters, Patricia Austin of Beltsville and Joyce Weiss of Ft. Myer, FL and a grandson, Jack Andrew Kling of Annapolis. Friends are invited to Carol’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater on Monday, June 18 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9PM and at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 11007 Montgomery Rd., Beltsville on Tuesday, June 19 from 10AM until her Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11:00AM. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake or the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Food Pantry.
