Carol Joy Moore, “Joyâ€, a resident of Edgewater for over 20 years died on Tuesday February 24, 2008 at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood. She was 59.
Born December 18, 1949 in Washington D.C, to Carl “Cotton†G. Walko, Sr. of Edgewater, MD and the late Peggy L. Walko, she graduated from Suitland High School in Price George's County. Joy worked as a clerk for the District of Columbia Government, an office manager for About Kitchens and she also worked as an Executive Secretary for the Severn Group.
Joy collected pigs and enjoyed her pot belly pig.
Joy is survived by her companion of 22 years, Jeffrey Sydenstricker, of Edgewater, MD, her former husband Dennis Moore, Sr. of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; devoted mother of Dennis H. Moore, Jr. of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; sister of Woody Walko of Edgewater, MD, Sherry L. Thompson of Mechanicsville, MD, Kelly R. Gordon of West River, MD and Casey A. Spicer of Edgewater, MD. She is predeceased by her first husband, Ronnie Marshall, who died in January of 2009.
Friends are invited to Joy's Life Celebration on Friday, February 27 at 1pm at Parkwood United Methodist Church, 35 Mayo Rd. Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Davidsonville Wildlife Sanctuary, 3156 Beards Point Rd., Davidsonville, MD 21035.
