arole P. Ancona, age 77, a twenty-year resident of Annapolis and formerly of Farmington, CT, died on Wednesday, October 26, at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Born on April 12, 1934, in Boston, MA, Carole graduated at the top of her class from The University of Hartford with degrees in art history. She was the Director of the Elderhostel Program at Trinity College in Sorrento, Italy, and taught art history at the University of Hartford. Carole’s passions were her family and friends, Roman and Greek art and architecture, and traveling to Italy. She enjoyed renovating homes, gardening, and classical literature.
Carole was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Adams. She is survived by her husband, Antonio Ancona; a son, James Irace of Roanoke, VA; three daughters, Laura Goldschmidt of Burlington, CT, Mary A. Irace of Annapolis, MD, and Susan Weischer of St. Thomas, USVI; three grandchildren, Valerie and Martin Goldschmidt and Julia DiLeo; her former husband, Ralph Irace.
Friends are invited to Carole’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD, on Wednesday from 6 to 8 pm, where a memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 3, at 11:00 am.
