Carole Meyer - Obituary

arole Kathryn McClay Meyer, 82, a resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Lanham, MD, died on Wednesday, July 7 at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home. Born on October 23, 1938 in Wilmington, DE, Carole grew up in Hyattsville, MD, and graduated in 1956 from Northwestern High School. She worked in the regional office of the McDonald’s Corporation as a secretary and operations manager, at the John H. Hampshire Co. as office manager and secretary to the President, and at the American Subcontractors Association as secretary to the Executive V.P. and meeting and convention planner. Carole later founded a construction company with her husband, John, where she served as President for 15 years before retiring in 2000. She was a member of St. Andrew the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Mayo, MD where she served on the vestry and as People’s Warden. Carole also was a member of Londontowne Property Association where she served on the Board of Directors and as secretary of the association for 3 years. She also belonged to the Metropolitan Subcontractors Association, the Maryland Tank Installers Association and she served as president and treasurer of Beach Club 2. Carole is survived by her husband of 65 years, John H. Meyer; her children, John W. Meyer and Loree A. Komsa, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by siblings, Albert E. McClay and Dorothy Gold. Friends are invited to celebrate Carole’s life at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 11:00 until her funeral service begins at noon.
