Carolyn Pappamihiel - Obituary

arolyn Jean Pappamihiel “Cornee”, 71, a 26-year resident of West River and formerly of Edgewater, died Monday, September 17 at Anne Arundel Medical Center due to congestive heart failure. She was born on September 7, 1941 in Washington, DC to the late Lonnie and Charlotte Polson and graduated in 1960 from the Anna Burdick Vocational High School. Carolyn worked at Vern’s Beauty Salon, Prince George’s Hospital and the Veterans Administration. From 1986 to 2011 she owned and operated the Country Home Assisted Living facility in Harwood. She was a member of the Annapolis Elks Lodge and attended Riva Trace Baptist Church and Chesapeake Christian Fellowship. Carolyn was an avid antiques collector, enjoyed the water, fishing, spending time with her many friends and loved her dogs, Mandi, a yorkshire terrier and Willis, a scottish terrier. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Pappamihiel who died in 2009; her son, Craig Kilroy and her brother, Lonnie “Sonny” Polson. She is survived by her son, John Kevin Kilroy of West River; three stepdaughters, Elaine Pappamihiel-Dougavich, Constantia and Doria Pappamihiel and a sister, Deborah and her husband, Anthony Brookes of Friendship. Friends are invited to Carolyn’s Life Celebration from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 23 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater where services will be held on at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 24. Interment Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suitland.
