Carolyn Lee Turgeon - Obituary

C

arolyn (Dudy) L. Turgeon passed away at the Rebecca Fortney Inpatient Care Center on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, after a short battle with cancer. She was eighty-one years young. Born on March 19, 1941, in Providence RI, to the late Harry A. Turgeon and Emily J. Hilbert, she graduated high school in Providence, RI, and spent one year in the Army. Following her Army discharge, Carolyn worked several jobs and ended her career working for the Navy as a civilian, a job she was very proud of and spoke of often. She spent most of her adult life in Edgewater, MD where she was surrounded by a close group of neighbors and friends. Carolyn loved to read and had a large collection of Stephen King novels. She enjoyed her home by the water and spent many hours fixing, repairing, and building with her hands. She had a great love for animals and always had dogs, cats, and birds as pets, always spoiling them. Carolyn was a strong, independent woman who knew what she wanted and how she wanted things done but was always willing to help out a friend or neighbor without hesitation. She will be greatly missed. Carolyn is survived by a brother, Robert Turgeon; a sister, Beatrice Turgeon; three nieces, Barbara Thibault, Cheryl Pratte, and Ann Marie Millard; two nephews, Joey Thibault and Kenneth Mendenhall; and several great-grandnieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two siblings, James Turgeon and Joyce Mendenhall. Friends are invited to celebrate Carolyn’s life on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at 1 pm at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Carolyn’s name to an animal support organization of your choosing. Condolences may be made by using the Memories tab on this page.
