Carson Gene Ward the third of four siblings of the late Willie James Ward and Minnie Louise Ward, was born on January 25th, 1950 in Trenton, North Carolina.  He was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on March 10th, 2022 and transitioned peacefully at Medstar Southern Maryland Hospital Center in Clinton, Maryland.

Carson was a star football athlete at Jones High School in Trenton, North Carolina where he famously set blazing record speeds as a star running back from 1965 – 1968 where he wore the number “41” proudly.  Carson played a major role in taking his High School football team to the State Championship from 1966 to 1967.  In October 1967, Carson a senior running back ran the ball 35 times for a record breaking 526 yards and 9 touchdowns “72 to 0” was the win over Charity High School of Rose Hill, North Carolina while using the “double cross move” over 50 years ago.  

Carson left North Carolina at the age of 18 to pursue career opportunities in Washington, DC.  He attended the University of District of Columbia and University Maryland where he obtained his Mechanical Engineering Degree.  Shortly thereafter he founded “Design Three Engineering” firm also known as (DTI) where he developed mechanical and satellite prototypes for the Department of Defense. “Design Three Engineering” firm was an early adopter of the “Port of America” project now known as the “National Harbor” in National Harbor, MD. In 1998 Carson opened Global Technologies & Systems. The company focused on smart technology solutions, as well as design and developed android tablets for businesses. In his later years he founded “Hyperlight Systems Corp”, which develops and supports advanced innovation and LED technologies for lighting and communication systems. 

One of Carson’s favorite things to do was to watch and cheer on his favorite NFL team the Dallas Cowboys, where he often enjoyed wearing his Dallas Cowboy team gear. He also had a love for racket ball and walking which were just a few of his favorite pass time activities. He headed up a walking club where his group loved walking down by the Tidal Basin by the Lincoln memorial in Washington, DC.  Carson was a big advocate for his hometown community in Trenton, North Carolina where he often coordinated and managed the family reunions and class reunion events.  In recent years, he had a heart to give back to those in need especially during the hurricane and flood seasons in Trenton, North Carolina.  Lastly, Carson loved grilling and cooking, and had his own signature secret sauce that he often bragged about.  He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. 

Carson left a wonderful legacy and lifetime of precious memories.  He is survived by his Daughter: “Courtney M. Ward”, His Loving Companion: “May Sarmiento” of 30 plus years, Brother: “James E. Ward (Crystal)”, Sister: “Sandra G. Gourdine”,  
Aunts: “Margaret Noble”, “Glenda Stevens”, “Minnie (Feen) King”, and “Iris Hill – Smith” 
Nieces: “Avonda Simmons-Chester”, “Tera Eddy (Steve)”, and “LaShandor Simmons”, 
Nephews: “Devin Saunders”, “Patrick Price Whiteside (Summer)” and a host of Great Nieces and Nephews, Cousins and Friends.

On Saturday, April 2, 2022 a family hour will be held for Carson Gene Ward from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. A memorial service will be held from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. at the KALAS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 6160 Oxon Hill Rd., Oxon Hill, MD 20745.
