Catherine Beall - Obituary

atherine Hartman Beall, 85, died December 18, 2008 of respiratory failure at Ginger Cove in Annapolis, MD. Mrs. Beall, a native of Prince George's County, MD, graduated from Surrattsville High School in Clinton, MD, and attended Strayer College in Washington, D.C. She worked for Riggs Bank in Washington in the 1940's and later for a Prince George's County physician. She moved to Annapolis in 1977. Her husband of 44 years, Irving “Bill” Beall, died in 1988. Mrs. Beall was the daughter of C. Norris and Patsy Hartman, owners of Hartman's Market in Suitland, MD Mrs. Beall volunteered with the Caring Collection of Annapolis for 16 years until 2005. The group raises money for cancer research and patient care at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, through the sale of their stained glass angels. She was also a member of the New Annapolitans and Calvary United Methodist Church in Annapolis. Mrs. Beall is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law: Bruce and Joan Beall of Riva, MD; the Rev. Dr. Stanley and Diana Beall of Laurel, MD; and Gary and Joni Beall of Cheverly, MD. She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and her sister, Peggy Lapiska, of Fairfield Glade, TN. Friends may call at the GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD, on Monday December 22 from 10AM until funeral service begins at 11am.
