Catherine Campbell - Obituary

atherine “Joy” Campbell, 68, a lifetime resident of Edgewater, died on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 of lung cancer at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Joy was born July 15, 1943 in Annapolis, MD and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Annapolis. She was a homemaker, but also worked as a bookkeeper at Campbell Distributing Company. Joy’s life centered around her family. She loved spending time at her condo in Ocean City with her family and had a passion for decorating the holiday seasons with her granddaughters. She is survived by her husband Ralph E. “Buddy” Campbell, whom she married on September 30, 1961; her daughter, Julie (Duane) Gels of Annapolis; her sons, Rick Campbell of Edgewater and Danny (Dina) Campbell of Annapolis, and her sister, Rosanne Proctor also of Annapolis. She is also survived by her four granddaughters: Sarah and Rachel Campbell and Laura and Catherine Gels. Friends are invited to Joy’s Life Celebration on Monday, August 29 from 6 to 9pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 12 noon. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
