atherine Helvin Capossela, age 94, an eighteen year resident of Heritage Harbour and formerly of Oxon Hill, MD, died on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at The Annapolitan Assisted Living facility of natural causes.
Born on October 19, 1917 in Long Island, NY, Catherine graduated from Eastern High School and Strayer Business College, both located in Washington, D.C., and then worked at the Library of Congress as an Executive Secretary. She was a member of All Hallows Episcopal Parish in Davidsonville, MD and the Surratt Society in Clinton, MD.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard J. Capossela, who died in April of 1990.
She is survived by a son, John F. (Jill) Capossela of Weatherly, PA; a daughter, Susan C. (Gus) Perrotta of Annapolis, MD; three grandsons, David L. (Michele) Capossela of Gainesville, VA, Michael A. Perrotta of Pasadena, MD and Daniel L. (Julie) Perrotta of New Market, VA; she is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Catherine’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD on Sunday, July 22 from 4 to 7pm. Funeral service will be held at All Hallows Chapel, 864 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville, MD on Monday, July 23 at 9:30am. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
