n Saturday, June 1, 2024, Catherine Clara Kotsis (73), a 50 year resident of Odenton, Maryland, passed away surrounded by her loving family. Catherine was born on December 6, 1950, in Brooklyn, NY to the late Menelaos Diapoules and Vassiliki Loukretis Diapoules of Andros, Greece. Catherine was raised in Brooklyn, New York as a member of Three Hierarchs Greek Orthodox church. Catherine graduated from Roosevelt High School then attended Brooklyn College- CUNY, serving in the Maids of Athena where she met many life-long friends. Catherine moved to Maryland in 1974 and became a member of the Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church of Annapolis. Catherine was a devoted mother of nine biological children and numerous acquired children. Catherine was the matriarch of a loving household full of Greek tradition. Catherine was blessed with grandchildren that kept her entertained and active. In addition to her family, Catherine enjoyed gardening, her pets, being outdoors, attending her grandchildren's extracurricular activities and family dinners. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Nicholas Kotsis, and her sister, Florence Diapoules Petrutsas. Catherine is survived by children, Nicholas Kotsis, Menelaos Kotsis, Vassiliki Horn, Amanda Kotsis, Alexis Kastrinos, George Kotsis, Christos Kotsis, John Kotsis, and Anastasia Kotsis and her grandchildren: Aris, James, Theodora, Dionisios, Xander, Anna, Jamesen, Katerina, Penelope, Rowan, Christos, Yanni, Andreas, and Barret, sister-in-law, Catherine Sauer and brother-in-law, Basil Kotsis (Joanna). Catherine will be remembered for the compassion and kindness that she shared with her family and friends, making an impact on the lives of many. Catherine’s courage and strength was felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Catherine will be forever missed, and her memory will be eternal. Catherine’s friends are welcome to celebrate her life on Wednesday, June 5th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Kalas Funeral Home & Crematory, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6th, at 11 a.m. Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 2747 Riva Rd., Annapolis, MD. Interment will be private.
