ecelia “Cece” Ruth Clark, 90, a 57-year resident of Edgewater, MD died on April 14, 2011 at the Mandrin Chesapeake Hospice House in Harwood, MD of natural causes after a lengthy illness.
Born March 6, 1921 in Johnstown, PA, to the late Raymond S. and Vera Wolfe, she was employed at the Annapolis Post Office in the early 1940’s, as the hostess at the Busch's Chesapeake Inn during the 1950’s and early 1960’s and as the director of circulation at the Arundel Times in the early 1980’s. Cece was a homemaker most of her life. Cecelia was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Edgewater, MD. She enjoyed calligraphy, painting, bird watching, gardening and spending time with friends and family.
Cecelia was predeceased by her husband, Guy “Sonny” Preston Clark, Jr., whom she married in 1945 and who died in 1991.
Cece is survived by a son, Guy Preston Clark, III of Mechanicsville, MD; two daughters, Maureen Elizabeth Thorne and Jacqueline Clark, both of Edgewater, MD; a brother, Robert Wolfe of Annapolis, MD; two sisters, Jeanne Zachary of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Colette Goba of Colonial Beach, VA; two grandsons, Jesse Andrew Thorne, III of Edgewater, MD and Jan Eric Thorne of Bowie, MD; a granddaughter, Cory Marie Clark of Towson, MD; also survived by a great-grandson, Tiberius Jesse Thorne.
Friends are invited to Cece’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Wednesday, April 20, 2011 from 6 to 8pm. Interment private. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 445 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD 21401.
