ecilia "Jan" Janella Morcombe, a 3 month resident of Easton and previously of Annapolis for 52 years, died of cancer while at her home on February 15, 2014. She was 52.
Born March 11, 1961 in Annapolis, she was a 1979 graduate of South River High School and attended Anne Arundel Community College. Jan was employed from 1978-80 with the Department of the Navy and as a proofreader with the United States Printing Office from 1980 until her retirement in 2013. She was also a longtime volunteer with the Anne Arundel Animal Control's Adopt-a-thon. Her memberships included St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Annapolis and the "Mod Squad". Jan's passion was her daughter, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Cecilia Morcombe; and her grandparents, Ella Agnes Moore, Daniel French Hollidayoke and Kenneth Frederick Morcombe.
Jan is survived by a daughter, Brittany Nicole Daywalt of Arnold; a sister, Sherry Kay Osman-Durm and her husband, John Durm of Ridgely; a grandson, Nathan Tyler Eslin of Arnold; her father, Kenneth Morcombe II; two nephews, Larry and Kenneth Osman; two great-nephews, Kyler Osman and Gavin Chappel and two great-nieces, Piper and Kiera Osman.
Friends are invited to Jan's Life Celebration on Wednesday, February 19 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 20 at 12:00 p.m. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Talbot Hospice Foundation, 586 Cynwood Drive, Easton, MD 21601.
