Charles Wesley Kight - Obituary

harles “Charlie” Wesley Kight, 79, a 35-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Hyattsville, MD died on May 16, 2009, after a 4 year battle with Alzheimer's disease and recently with lung cancer. Born January 12, 1930 in Washington, D.C., he was a Tile and Marble Mechanic with Boatman and Magnani until retirement. His memberships included Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Glenn Dale Golf Club, Union member of Local #1, a 3rd degree knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 1384 and was a Commodore with the Mayo Kiwanis. He loved to play golf and won numerous tournaments, loved Sunday dinners with his family and he worked for many years at the Knights of Columbus Bingo every Friday night until his illness prevented him from going. Mr. Kight was honored for his fine craftsmanship of mosaic design in the Moroccan Embassy and his marble work at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. He was the beloved husband of Anne Marie Passero Kight, whom he married on September 15, 1948; devoted father of Robert M. Kight of Ocean Pines, MD, Angela F. Kight of Glen Burnie, MD and Marianne Pelura of Davidsonville, MD; brother of the late Elmer A. Kight; he is also survived by nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to Charles' Life Celebration on Wednesday, May 20 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, May 21 at 10:00AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd., Edgewater, MD. Entombment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
