Charles Longo - Obituary

harles Richard Longo, Sr., “Charlie”, a 29-year resident of Annapolis, MD and previously of Laurel, MD died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on October 9, 2011. Born February 1, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY, he was employed as the owner/operator of several tractor-trailer/driving vocational schools. At age 50, Charlie learned to ride horses and was the 2004 Barrel racing National Champion. He was a member of the Republican club and the National Barrel Horse Association. Charlie loved boating, photography, riding horses, swimming and making people laugh. Charlie was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Longo. He is survived by his wife, Barbara L. Taylor-Longo, whom he married October 13, 2001; one son, Charles R. Longo, Jr. of Riva, MD; one daughter, Barbara Sweet of Pasadena, MD; one stepson, Gregory Taylor of Hagerstown, MD; one sister, Laureen Longo of Middle Village, NY; his first wife of 20 years, Linda Longo; he is also survived by numerous nieces. Friends are invited to Charlie’s Life Celebration at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD on Friday, October 14 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm, with a wake service beginning at 7pm. Interment Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY.
