Charles Magruder - Obituary

harles “Charlie” L. Magruder, 74, a resident of Annapolis, MD since 1989 and previously of Olney, MD died on December 12, 2008 at Anne Arundel Medical Center of natural causes after a lengthy illness. Born, February 21, 1934 in Washington, D.C., he received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Microbiology, while working at N.I.H. Charlie was employed at N.I.H as a microbiologist from 1955-1989. His memberships included Calvary United Methodist Church in Annapolis, MD and Oakdale Emory United Methodist Church in Olney, MD. Mr. Magruder's hobbies included bowling, golf, tennis and he was an avid Redskins fan. He was the beloved husband of Betty Ann Magruder, whom he married on May 29, 1954; father of Sherian Huber of New Market, MD, Sandra Magruder of Merritt Island, FL, Susan Smith of Woodstock, MD and Sheila Hawes of Glen Arm, MD; grandfather of Cheryl Dunagin, Robert Dove, Matthew Kopchinski, Kenneth & Allison Smith and Connor & Cooper Hawes; great-grandfather of Elijah Dunagin. Friends are invited to Mr. Magruder's Life Celebration on Friday, December 19, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Calvary United Methodist Church, 301 Rowe Blvd, Annapolis, MD 21401. Interment private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Calvary United Methodist Memorial Fund at the address above.
