GM Charles C. Nickerson, US ARMY (ret) of Edgewater, MD passed away peacefully on January 12, 2013 at the age of 59. Chuck was born in Montevideo, Uruguay on March 26, 1953 to William and Dorothy Nickerson, Jr. He honorably served on full time active duty with the Maryland National Guard 1st/ 158th Calvary Regiment. SGM Nickerson was an excellent soldier, he served his country proudly with honor and distinction. Along with earning his rank, he also earned many medals and commendations. SGM Nickerson was well respected by his command and the soldiers with whom he served. He was respected as a friend and confidant. He was preceded in death by his father, William S. Nickerson, Jr. and brother, William S. Nickerson, III. He is survived by his wife, Jami Ann Nickerson; two daughters, Courtney “Nikki” Scott of Annapolis, MD and M. Lindsey Nickerson of Port Republic, MD; three grandchildren, Dylan and Taylor Scott and Riley Brown; his mother, Dorothy Nickerson of Annapolis; three brothers, Lee Nickerson of Fairfax Station, VA, Daniel Nickerson of Annapolis, MD and Brian Nickerson of Linden, VA and his sister Melanie of Annapolis, MD. Friends are invited to Chuck's Life Celebration on Wednesday, January 16, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, with a military remembrance at 6:30pm, at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made on behalf of SGM Charles Nickerson to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org).
