harles “Chuck” A. Peterson, 89, a 60-year resident of Beltsville, MD passed away on February 8, 2025 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, MD of natural causes. Born on May 7, 1935 in Menominee, MI to the late Lloyd M. and Hazel E. Peterson, Chuck graduated from Anacostia High School in Washington, DC before enrolling in trade school. He served his country in the 8th Cavalry of the United States Army before establishing his career at the United States Department of the Navy as a MK-48 torpedo production manager for over 25 years. In his spare time, Chuck enjoyed playing cards, bowling, casino runs, jigsaw puzzles, and woodworking, especially birdhouses. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones at the family beach house in Mayo, MD. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Peterson, his sister, Lois Flowers, and his daughter-in-law, Paulette Peterson. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Brenda Peterson; his children, Pamela (Bill) Peterson-Mazza of Romney, WV, Scott (the late Paulette) Peterson of Finksburg, MD, Terri (Bill) Daniel of Pasadena, MD, and Stephen (Linda) Peterson of Potomac, MD. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, Kevin Peterson, Nicole Wozny, Justin Daniel, Steven Yancheski, Thomas Yancheski, Benjamin Yancheski, Zachary Peterson, Max Mazza, Sarah Mosely, Hunter Mazza, Elizabeth Peterson, and Matthew Peterson, as well as 10 great-grandchildren. He also was a friend of Bill W. for over 38 years. Per Chuck’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family will receive visitors on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 1 to 4 pm at the American Legion Cummings-Behlke Post 226, 830 E. Central Avenue, Edgewater, MD 21037.
