Charles E. Phillips - Obituary

harles Edward Phillips, 87, of Edgewater, MD died on September 30, 2016 at his home. Born on September 23, 1929 in Washington, DC, Charles served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After serving in the Army, he married his first wife, Ann, and they made their home in the DC suburbs. Charles worked as an industrial engineering technician with the Bureau of Engraving for many years. In 1988, after retiring, he married Margarett Pokorny who died in 2007. He and Margarett traveled extensively. Charles loved to work in his garden, it was the highlight of their community. He also loved photography, he was a member of the Annapolis Photography Club and a longtime member of Heritage Baptist Church in Annapolis. For many years, he took all the photographs for the church. Charles is survived by his two step-children, K. Christine O'Neill and her husband, David of the Eastern Shore and Bill Pokorny and his wife, Elizabeth of Florida. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday, October 6 at Heritage Baptist Church, 1740 Forest Dr., Annapolis, MD. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville.
