Charles Roger Shoch - Obituary

harles Roger Shoch, age 89, of Fort Washington, MD died peacefully on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.  He was the husband of Ann Charlotte Shoch, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Born in Harrisburg, PA, he was the son of Clarence T. and Marie V. Shoch. Roger spent his summers in his youth with his family in Promised Land State Park, was active in scouting, achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and graduated from Allentown (PA) High School. Roger spent his summers in college as a tree cutter and graduated from Lehigh University with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Industrial Engineering. After graduation, Roger enjoyed his early career living in Malibu, CA where he rented a house on the beach from the actress Shirley McLean with three of his classmates.  Following his time in California, he moved to Boston, MA where he met Ann Shoch, his beloved wife, then relocated to Colorado Springs, CO to work for Rand Company and lastly moved to Fort Washington, MD to work for the Department of the Navy as a computer analyst in Washington, DC where he retired. Outside of work, Roger had a great love for camping, skiing and the Washington Capitals. He and Ann were original season ticket holders since their inception in 1974.  They enjoyed traveling the US in their RV having visited all 50 states. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his three daughters, Dorene Albury of Fort Washington, MD, Adrienne Shoch of Asheville, NC, and Sharon Shoch of Woodbridge, VA along with five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was loved by his family and many friends and will be missed. A celebration of life will be held on Jan 3rd at 11 am at St. Mary’s of Piscataway Chapel, 13405 Piscataway Road, Clinton MD followed by a reception at the family home.
