Charles Edward Trunnell, Jr. - Obituary

harles Edward Trunnell, Jr, 81, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017. He was born in Washington D.C. and lived in the District and Maryland throughout his life. He was a member of the very first graduating class of Suitland High School and then served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Iowa. After his tour of some of the most beautiful ports in Europe, he enjoyed a long Washington, D.C. based career in commercial real estate, serving as chief building engineer for many of the city’s iconic business addresses. Charlie (“Chuck” to many) was a lifelong member of the Camp Springs Masonic Lodge and a voracious reader who was deeply interested in politics and world events. He was also an avid baseball, hockey and football fan, spending countless hours at Griffith stadium supporting the Senators, the Capital Center cheering on the Caps and at RFK stadium rooting for the Redskins. Later in life he enjoyed his hobbies from home with what he called “real” country music playing in the background. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ethel Bendall Trunnell and Charles Trunnell, Sr. and his sister Joanne Wallace (Stanley). He is survived by his sister Peggy Dennison (Wayne); his children Paula Duff (Matthew), Christopher Bean (Kimberly), Carey Tarbell (Michael), Jacquelyn Bean, Chaney Kouremetis (Louis), Charles Trunnell, III (Jennifer) and his grandchildren Matthew and Anna Duff, Richard, Donielle, Jake and Xavier Bean; MaryAna Trunnell, John and Chloe Tarbell, Kate and Joe Berry and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members Funeral services will be held at GEORGE P. KALAS FUNERAL HOME, 6160 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill Maryland, on Tuesday, April 25th at 12:30 p.m. Interment Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Disabled American Veterans, Baltimore Regional Office, George Hyde (G. H.)
