harles John Wagner “Charlieâ€, 90, a lifetime resident of Davidsonville, died at his home on January 18, 2010 of natural causes. Born on January 13, 1920 in Baltimore, MD, he was raised on a farm in Davidsonville and was the first altar boy at the mission that eventually became Holy Family Catholic Church in Davidsonville. He was a member of the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving on the USS Missouri. During his Navy tour, he was also a member of the President's Band. After leaving the Navy, he worked for Reliable Contracting Company until his retirement. Charlie was a very giving and caring person who was always willing to help others. He enjoyed gardening, farming tobacco and listening to political talk shows. He was the husband of Mary Ann Wagner, whom he married on June 16, 1951 and who died on July 22, 2007. He is survived by three sons: Charlie M. Wagner of Crofton, MD, John M. Wagner of Glen Burnie, MD and Peter A. Wagner of Davidsonville, MD and two daughters: Theresia Holmes of Pennsylvania and Mary Bast of North Beach, MD. He is also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Margaret Wagner and the brother of the late Michael and Nicholas Wagner.
Friends are invited to Charlie's Life Celebration on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 22 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Chapel, 820 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville, MD 21037. Interment Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
