Charles Sawin White, Sr. - Obituary

harles S. White, Sr. a 47 year resident of Arnold, MD and previously of Glen Burnie, MD, died on October 26, 2016. Charles was 85. Born on April 12, 1931, in Baltimore, MD, to the late Herbert and Minnie (Sawin) White, Charlie graduated from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, and later earned a bachelor degree from Towson State University. Charlie went on to earn his masters degree from the University of Maryland. Charlie was employed as a teacher and an administrator for the Anne Arundel County School System for 30 years. He was a teacher at George Fox Middle and Glen Burnie High School, a Supervisor of Instruction at Severna Park High School and a Vice Principal at Chesapeake High School. Charlie served on active duty in 1954-55, with the Army in Germany during the Allied occupation. He also served in the USAR for 30 years as a hospital administrator with the 100th Station Hospital in Baltimore and the 2290th in Rockville, proudly retiring with the rank of Colonel. Charlie’s interests included music, history, reading, and volunteering in school activities and with St. Paul Lutheran Church in Annapolis. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Judith Fisher White; three sons, LTCM Charles White, Jr. (Denise) of Naples, Italy; Andrew F. and S. Tobias, both of Edgewater; four grandchildren, Elena, Ian, Dalton, and Hunter. A funeral service for Charlie will be held on October 31, 2016, at 11 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 31 Rowe Blvd., Annapolis, MD. Interment Maryland Veteran Cemetery Crownsville, Tuesday, November 1 at 1 pm, with military honors.
