Charlotte Glynn-Flynn - Obituary

harlotte Mariah Glynn Flynn lost her brave year-long battle with cancer on January 13, 2012. A resident of Ginger Cove, Charlotte was a longtime resident of Crofton from 1966 to 2009. Charlotte was born on February 20, 1924, in Portsmouth, VA to the late John J. and Harriett Brennaman Glynn. She was a proud Navy wife who accompanied her husband and raised her family at many duty stations. She was a former member of the Crofton Garden Club, the Ft. Meade Officer’s Wives Club, and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church of Crofton. She loved to read and was especially proud of her gardening skills which were evident for so many years at her beautiful home in Crofton. She looked forward to leaving the cold north to enjoy many years of wintering with friends in Key Colony Beach, Marathon, FL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph Glynn and sister, Anne James. Charlotte is survived by her husband of 62 years, William J. “Bill” Flynn of Ginger Cove, her son, Peter Flynn (Susan) of Crofton, MD and daughter Harriett Diakoulas (Gus) of Grasonville, MD. She was beloved “MooMoo” to her grandchildren, Nolie, Mara, Alexa, and Natalie Diakoulas. Also surviving is a brother, Frank Glynn of Hanover, PA and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Charlotte will be held on Friday, January 20, 2012 at 2pm in Friendship Hall at Ginger Cove. Inurnment at the Naval Academy Columbarium.
