heryl D. Bujac, passed away peacefully at her Annapolis home on June 26, 2018, ending a heroic, 14-year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family whom she dearly loved. Cheryl was born in Hampton, VA on June 26, 1946 to the late Virginia F. and Walter A. Douglass, Sr., while her father, a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, was stationed at Langley Air Force Base. Cheryl moved numerous times throughout her father’s military career, including a tour in Japan.
After graduating from Duval High School, Cheryl attended the University of Maryland in College Park. She married her husband in 1966 and accompanied him throughout his foreign service career to postings in Rome, Italy; Tel Aviv, Israel; Brussels, Belgium and Sydney, Australia. Her passion was supporting her husband and their sons and making a comfortable home for them. She also worked as a legal secretary and librarian.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Gregorie Bujac; two sons, Brett (Meredith) Bujac and Scott (Katie) Bujac, both of Crofton, MD; a brother, Walter (Sharon) Douglass of Centennial, CO; and six grandchildren, Landon, Morgan, Wyatt, Brooks, Piper and Parker.
Friends are invited to a memorial gathering from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 29 at the Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 30 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 109 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis. Burial at Lakemont Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or Hospice of the Chesapeake will be appreciated.
