hester M. Kosheba, 95, a 14-year resident of West River and Davidsonville and previously of New Kensington, PA and Tarentum, PA, died July 25 at his home in West River. He was born August 18, 1915 in New Kensington to the late Jacob and Josephine Kosheba where he graduated from KEN HI High School . He also attended the University of Pittsburgh. Chester began his career in 1936 at Union Spring Manufacturing Company in New Kensington and later transferred to its Verona , PA office where it became Verona Steel. He retired as production manager in 1987. Chester was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Kensington until he moved to Davidsonville where he became a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and, most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Chester was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Marie Kosheba, who died in 2006; two brothers, Constantine and Louis Kosheba; and three sisters, Marie Harwood, Sophie Pelisari and Helen Ignozzi.
He is survived by two daughters, Pat Graybill of West River and Dottie Wilson of Dunkirk, one brother, Anthony Kosheba of Lower Burrell, PA; and six grandchildren, Michael Graybill of Edgewater, Jeffrey Graybill of Tracys Landing, Jim Wilson of Chesapeake Beach, Joseph Wilson of Arnold, Lynnette Baker of Dunkirk and Beth Garrett of Owings. Also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to Chester’s Life Celebration on Wednesday, July 27, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, July 28 at 10:30am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 W. Central Avenue, Davidsonville. Interment Southern Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Little Sisters of the Poor – Jeanne Jugan Residence, 4200 Harewood Road, NE, Washington, DC 20772 or to Holy Family Catholic Church.
