uthard "Chip" Alvin Basil, passed away on April 15, 2023, after sustaining an aorta aneurysm. Born on May 15, 1951, in Annapolis, MD to the late Ruthard "Rudy" C. Basil & Dorothy (Mimi) 0. Basil. He was a longtime resident of Edgewater, MD, and a business owner of George T. Dawson Electric, Inc. for over 36 years. Chip lived a very blessed life and enjoyed spending time with his friends & family, hunting, fishing, driving his 38 Ford Hotrod, vacationing, four-wheeling, coin & stamp collecting, tinkering in his garage, and most of all his walks with his dog, Baylee. He will be remembered for his warm caring spirit, his generous gift of giving, and his devotion to his family and friends. His departure will leave an irreplaceable void and his quirky one-line quotes, jokes, and presence in our lives will be deeply missed. Chip is survived by his wife, Wanda Basil; two sons Geoffrey "Geo" of Edgewater, MD & Trevor Basil of Harwood, MD; one grandson Owen Basil of Edgewater, MD; a sister Diane (Dee) Zahradnik & husband Ray of Steamboat Springs, CO; his mother-in-law Polly Whitaker of Peru, NC; a sister & brother-in-law Brenda & Tim Webb of Woodlawn, VA; a brother-in-law David (Buddy) Traylor of Fort Payne, AL; a brother & sister-in-law Jimmy & Traci Scott of Snead Ferry, NC; numerous nephews, Zach Horton, Austin Horton and his wife, Maddie, David Traylor, J.D. & Vincent Scott, and nieces, Lori Sears, Kacie & Danielle Traylor, and Kelly Britt; and numerous special cousins, Cindy Dawson, Tommy Clark, Jimmy & Scott Cannon, Mary McLean & Joe Basil. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Chip's life on Friday, April 28, 2023, at the Holy Family Catholic Church Unity Hall, 826 W Central Ave, Davidsonville, MD 21035 from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. The Family is requesting that everyone wear either camo or casual attire, No suits or ties, please!!!
