Christian Stewart Woodrum - Obituary

C

hristian Stewart Woodrum of Temple Hills, MD (formerly of Richmond, VA) passed away on May 1, 2020. The world has lost a truly incredible, kind, loving, funny, and exceptional person. Christian was born in Leesburg, Virginia and soon discovered his love for sports, video games, and especially Cup O’Noodles. In fact, in the days following Christian’s passing, Nissin Foods Holdings Co Ltd’s stock prices fell so drastically that it is rumored that the company had to call an emergency meeting to address the drop in sales! A talented gymnast as a child, Christian successfully competed in state, regional, and national-level events, and later became a competitive diver. Like many of his relatives, he was a gifted pianist with a passion for music; he spread joy wherever he went with his piano playing, often while singing beautifully and passionately along to the songs. He also shared his father’s love for downhill skiing and craft beers. Christian graduated from James River High School in Richmond, Virginia in 2013 and later worked as a dive coach, a fitness model, a manager at Youfit Health Clubs, and ultimately as a sales representative for Capital Electric Supply in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He was the kind of person whose presence lit up a room, who had such a huge heart for other people, and whose quirky sense of humor, belly laugh, and mischievous smile brightened wherever he went. His warmth, energy, kindness, and humor were shared generously with everyone, whether you had just met him or had known him for years, and he left a lasting impact on all who met him. He was a loving son and grandson, adored brother, cherished cousin, and an unforgettable friend. He leaves behind a hole in our hearts that can never be filled… our only comfort is that he is now in the loving arms of Jesus. Christian is survived by his parents, Wil and Carol Woodrum of Bon Air, Virginia; his sister, Sally and her husband, Joel; his grandparents Diane Coulter, and Carl & Yvonne Steffens. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Byron and Mary Woodrum and Larry Horton (who was just like a bonus Grandpa). In light of Christian’s untimely death and the deep sadness it leaves in its wake, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in his memory to either Samaritan's Purse "Operation Heal our Patriots" or to New Hope Rescue of Providence Forge, Virginia. A memorial service is planned for 2 pm on August 15, 2020 at Winfree Memorial Baptist Church, 13617 Midlothian Turnpike, Midlothian, VA 23113 to be followed by an outside gathering at 4:30 pm at Legends, 321 W 7th Street, Richmond, VA 23224. (A change to comfortable warm-weather clothing is suggested.) We are compelled to remind you that masks will be required in Winfree Church. Also, that we may assist the church with proper physical distancing precautions while indoors, the family requests that you kindly advise us of your plans to attend and how many will be in your party via an email to cwoodrummemorialservice@gmail.com. This will also enable us to advise you in case circumstances require that our plans must be changed during these challenging times. Thank you and we look forward to meeting you in celebration of the life of our beloved Christian.
