hristine “Chris” Marie Perkey, 75, a 42-year resident of Edgewater, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, July 17, 2026. Chris was born on June 28, 1951, in Washington, DC, to the late Francis and Margaret DePaul. She attained her associate’s degree in nursing from Prince George's Community College. She worked as a Pediatric Nurse for 21 years. Later in her career she worked as Senior Medical Consultant, RN, CMPE. She was a Strategic Planner for the MD State Department of Health, where she created billing structures and trained medical professionals across the country. She was a parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Churches, where she was a member of the sewing ministry. Her interests included volunteering, church, and spending time with her family. She was an avid quilter, making beautiful quilts plus many artistic multimedia pieces. In addition to her parents, Chris was preceded in death by her sister Sally DiCarlo. Chris is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Al Perkey, her daughter, Charlene Perkey and her husband Shaun Struntz of St. Paul, MN and Sherry Perkey of Edgewater, MD, her siblings, Steve DePaul and his wife Pam of Arnold, MD, Joseph Depaul and his wife Karen of Edgewater, MD and her sister, Patty Cunningham and her husband, John of Edgewater, MD. She is also survived by her grandson, Bradley Perkey of Edgewater, MD. Friends are invited to celebrate Chris’ life on Tuesday, July 28 from 10 am until a Mass of the Resurrection begins at 11 am at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd., Edgewater, MD. Interment at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville will be private.
