hristine Elizabeth “Betty” Pell, age 95 and a 46 year resident of Edgewater, died peacefully of natural causes on February 11, 2022. Betty was born in Washington, DC on October 22, 1926 and graduated from Eastern High School in 1945. A stay at home mom, she was a longtime member of Mayo United Methodist Church. She loved watching sports on TV (the Orioles, Nationals and Redskins), bowling, playing cards, slot machines and bingo, watching game shows and good movies, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty is survived by her children; Bobby (Kim) Pell of Edgewater, Jim (Linda) Pell of Herndon, VA, Jackie (Danny) Young of Edgewater and Bev (Bill) McCloskey of Edgewater; grandchildren Lindsay Burns, Jared Pell, Courtney Mullins, Danielle Bender and Jenna Welle; and her great grandchildren Emma and Austin Pell, J.T., Jordyn, Jake and Raegan Mullins, Jaden and Abbie Bender, and Reese and Hudson Welle. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Charles A. Pell, who died February 10, 2018; her grandson, Jaden Young; and her two sisters and one brother. A memorial service will be held on Friday, March 4, 2022, at 1 PM at Mayo United Methodist Church, 1005 Old Turkey Point Road, Edgewater, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Betty's memory may be made to Mayo United Methodist Church, 1005 Old Turkey Point Road, Edgewater, MD 21037.
