Christine Valentyn - Obituary

hristine Cornelia Valentyn, a 35 year resident of Annapolis, died on Tuesday February 10, 2009 of natural causes. She was 94. Born January 3, 1915 in Nieuwkoop, Netherlands, she worked as a Orthopedic Technician for many years at Southern Maryland Hospital in Clinton, MD, where she retired at the age of 72. Christine immigrated to the US in 1957, with her husband and seven children and became a self taught Orthopedic Technician. She raised all her children to be good citizens and achieve the American Dream. Christine enjoyed raising her seven children and spending time with her grandchildren. Christine was preceded in death by her husband Cornelius Valentyn who died on July 22, 1970, ands whom she married on May 23, 1944. She is survived by her sons, Cornelius Valentyn of Mentor, Ohio and William Valentyn of McKeesport, Pennsylvania and the late John Valentyn, and her daughters Alida Yoezle of Annapolis, MD, Tineke Pitoniak of Memphis, TN, MaryAnn Jones of Butler, PA and Trudy DeCarolis of McKean, PA., also survived by 20 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Christine's Life Celebration on Thursday, February 12, 2009 from 12pm until time of funeral service at 1pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037. Interment private.
