Claire Fitzgerald - Obituary

laire Manning Fitzgerald, 74, a four-year resident of Annapolis and formerly of Port Washington, Long Island, N.Y., died of heart failure Oct. 1 at home. Mrs. Fitzgerald was born June 13, 1933, in Hudson, Mass., where she attended St. Michael's School and Academy. She graduated from St. Paul's Academy in Washington, D.C. She worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation both in Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. Her interests included entertaining friends and family. She was the widow of Bernard Joseph Fitzgerald, her husband of more than 41 years who died in 1996. Surviving are three sons, Johnathan Fitzgerald of Fairfax, Va., Bernard Fitzgerald of Port Washington, N.Y., and Michael Fitzgerald of Annapolis; one daughter, Sarah Stevenson of Fairfax, Va.; two brothers, Jay Manning of Annandale, Va., and Peter Manning of Worcester, Mass.; five sisters, Alice Manning of Baltimore, Joan Cusick of Tampa, Fla., Martha Costello of Huntingtown, Sarah O'Leary of Highland in Howard County, and Jane Alvis of Indianapolis; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2007 at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 826 Central Ave., Davidsonville. Burial is private.
